Can ovarian cyst cause sciatic nerve pain?

I've been diagnosed with an ovarian cyst, and concurrently, I've started having this shooting pain down my leg, very similar to sciatic nerve pain. Is there a possibility that my ovarian cyst could be causing this sciatic nerve pain?

Yes, a large cyst can push against the pelvic nerves and cause leg and hip pain. I am so sorry you are dealing with this discomfort. Please take some rest and visit your doctor to get an ultrasound done soon.

My sister's gynecologist explained that a large ovarian cyst can indeed press against the sciatic nerve or pelvic wall. This compression can cause radiating pain down the lower back, hip, and leg, mimicking classic sciatica. Getting an ultrasound is the best way to check for nerve compression.

I had a 7cm cyst last year that caused terrible shooting pain down my right leg. Once my doctor removed the cyst, the sciatic pain disappeared completely. If your leg pain is due to a cyst, getting the cyst treated is the only permanent solution.

Cysts can cause referred pain throughout the lower body due to local inflammation. While you get this checked by a doctor, consuming anti-inflammatory foods like turmeric milk and fresh vegetables can help soothe the body, though it won't shrink the cyst.

Yes, if the cyst is quite big, it pushes on the nerves and causes shooting leg pain. For temporary relief, a warm heating pad on your lower back works wonders. But make sure to visit a local clinic to get a proper scan done.
