Can ovarian cancer be cured by removing the ovary?

My doctor suggested surgery for my ovarian cancer, which involves removing the affected ovary. I'm wondering if simply removing the ovary is enough to consider the cancer cured, or if further treatment is usually necessary?

Dekho boss, direct baat hai. Oophorectomy se help milti hai, but sirf ek ovary nikalne se poora cancer thik ho jayega aisa nahi hai. Doctor decide karega ki chemo chahiye ya nahi. Faltu ka risk mat lo aur specialist se poora treatment plan samjho.

Removing the affected ovary, called an oophorectomy, is usually the first step if the cancer is localized. However, depending on the stage, doctors often recommend removing both ovaries, the uterus, and sometimes doing chemotherapy to make sure no cancer cells are left behind.

I completely understand how terrifying it is to face the idea of surgery and cancer. It's totally normal to feel overwhelmed right now. While removing the ovary is a major part of the cure for early stages, only your doctor can tell if more treatment is needed to keep you safe.

My wife's oncologist explained that unilateral oophorectomy is only for very early-stage, low-grade tumors if the patient wishes to preserve fertility. Otherwise, a total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy is the standard procedure to prevent recurrence. Always ask for a staging laparotomy.

My sister went through this last year. They removed her left ovary because the tumor was small and contained. It worked for her, but she still had to get regular checkups for months. It really depends on what stage the doctor finds during surgery.

Whether ovary removal alone is enough to cure the cancer depends entirely on surgical staging and histopathology. It is a highly subjective medical decision. Please rely only on a qualified gynecological oncologist's advice rather than generalized online information.

Surgery like removing an ovary is a heavy hit on the body's hormonal balance. It can help cure early-stage cancer, but recovering properly with clean nutrition and light physical therapy is equally important. Definitely follow your surgeon's protocol strictly.

The surgical removal of the diseased organ is often necessary to clear the physical illness. Along with the surgery to remove the ovary, keeping your breathing calm through pranayama helps the body heal from the trauma of treatment. Trust your doctors and keep faith.
