Can nightmares cause heart attack?

Last night I had a really vivid and scary nightmare, and my heart was pounding out of my chest when I woke up. I'm already a bit worried about my heart health. Can a nightmare actually be so intense that it could cause a heart attack?

If you are having frequent nightmares and waking up with a racing heart, it is likely just stress or anxiety. However, don't waste time self-diagnosing. Book a quick consultation with a cardiologist to rule out any actual heart concerns.

When we get older, bad dreams can make us very restless and we feel our chest is heavy. But nightmares alone don't cause heart attacks. Try to drink some warm water and say a small prayer before sleeping.

If you have a history of heart issues, don't ignore it. But instead of running to expensive corporate hospitals, visit a government clinic for a basic ECG and consultation. It costs next to nothing and gives complete peace of mind.

I am not a doctor, but I used to wake up sweating with a pounding chest after nightmares. My doctor told me it was panic, not a heart attack, but he did suggest getting an ECG done just to clear my mind. Maybe you can do the same.

Waking up terrified from a nightmare is very unsettling. Please try to relax, take slow deep breaths, and don't let the fear of a heart attack stress you even more. You are likely safe.

Honestly, my office emails give me more nightmares than actual dreams! Waking up with a fast pulse is normal when you have a bad dream, but unless you have real chest pain or numbness, it is just your brain playing tricks.

Nightmares disturb our nervous system and raise our blood pressure momentarily. Practicing 10 minutes of Bhramari pranayama and deep breathing before bed can calm the mind and prevent these sudden shocks during sleep.

Bro, I had this scary dream once and woke up thinking my heart would burst out of my chest. It is just an adrenaline rush, not a heart attack. Just sit up, drink some cold water, and play some light music.
