Can nexium cause kidney disease?

For my acidity issues, I've been taking Nexium for quite some time now, and recently I read something online about it possibly affecting kidneys. Can Nexium really cause kidney disease in the long run? I'm getting a bit worried.

Please do not worry, God has given our bodies great power to heal. If you are taking any medicine for a long time, just keep a check on your body's signals and stay calm. Positive thinking and a balanced life can resolve many issues.

Haan na, I also heard that long term use of these acidity tablets can affect kidneys. Actually, my uncle was taking daily and doctor asked him to stop. Better to check with your family doc once, no?

I hope you are doing okay. Try not to stress too much about the side effects right now, but definitely get a simple blood test done to check your kidney function if you have been taking it for months.

There are some studies linking long-term PPI use to kidney issues, but it's not a guarantee that it will happen to everyone. The best approach is to consult your gastroenterologist. They can suggest alternative treatments or evaluate if you really need Nexium daily.

Daily medicines are not good for the stomach or kidneys in the long run. I had severe acidity and slowly managed it by drinking warm fennel water and eating on time. Try simple home remedies alongside, so you can reduce these strong pills gradually.

My grandmother always says that english medicines have some heat that affects the organs, but we must trust our doctor. If the doctor has prescribed it, they know what is best for your condition. Just talk to them openly about your fears.

When my doctor prescribed Nexium for my GERD, I asked him about kidney risks. He told me that short-term use of 2-4 weeks is generally very safe, but taking it for years can increase the risk of interstitial nephritis. He advised monitoring kidney function with annual blood tests if taken long-term.

Please be very careful with prolonged acidity pills. I ignored my routine blood tests and later found my creatinine levels had spiked due to years of taking PPIs. Go see your doctor immediately and get your kidney function checked.
