Can newborns sleep on their stomach on your chest?

My wife and I love it when our baby falls asleep on our chest, stomach-down, it feels like such a strong bond. Is this a safe position for a newborn to sleep, even if one of us is awake and watching them? We just want to be extra careful.

Honestly I used to do this with my baby but I was always terrified of falling asleep myself. Did anyone else get super paranoid every single second? I kept checking if she was breathing, it was so stressful but they just sleep so peacefully on the chest.

As long as you are fully awake, it is fine and actually great for bonding. But the moment you feel drowsy, please put the baby back in the crib on their back. Safe sleep guidelines are very clear about this, don't risk it.

It is the best feeling in the world when they cuddle on your chest! Just keep their nose clear so they can breathe easily. Enjoy these tiny snuggle sessions but stay super alert! 😊

We did this a lot to soothe colic, the warmth of the chest really helps the baby digest. But only do it during daytime when you have someone sitting next to you to watch. Don't do this at night when everyone is sleeping.

It is nice for chest-to-chest contact, but your posture takes a major hit when you hold them like this for hours. Try to stretch your lower back and shoulders whenever u get a break. And make sure you are fully alert while holding them.

After a very difficult pregnancy due to my PCOS, I was extra protective about my little one. I read a lot about safe sleep and realized stomach sleeping on the chest is only okay if you are wide awake. I never dared to close my eyes even for a second.

Rather than spending on fancy smart baby monitors that cost a fortune, just practice basic safe habits. If you feel tired, put them in a simple wooden cot. It's safer and saves you so much stress and money on unnecessary checkups later.

Haan na, they only sleep nicely on the chest, otherwise they wake up immediately. But please be careful, only do it when you are totally awake. SIDS risks are real na, so better to be safe than sorry.
