Can neck massage cause stroke?

I sometimes get a neck massage to relieve tension, but a friend recently told me it can be dangerous. Is it true that a vigorous neck massage can cause a stroke? I'm quite worried about this now.

I totally understand why this worries you, because I also panicked after reading an article about neck adjustments. While a normal gentle massage is safe, heavy cracking or sudden pressure on the sides of the neck can damage arteries. It is scary, but staying informed helps.

My gym trainer told me never to let local barbers crack my neck. Sudden violent twisting can tear the carotid artery and lead to a stroke. Stick to gentle rub downs and avoid the aggressive cracking completely.

Hey, don't stress too much about this. A simple, gentle shoulder and neck massage at home is totally fine. Just tell whoever is doing it to avoid any sudden, hard cracks or deep pressure near your throat.

I used to get severe neck stiffness and tried different massages. My physiotherapist strictly warned me against high-velocity chiropractic neck cracks because of the stroke risk. Stick to safe hot water fermentation or mild muscle gels instead.

Look, stop getting your neck cracked by untrained barbers or therapists. That sudden twisting can cause arterial tears which lead to strokes. Gentle massaging of the back muscles is fine, but leave the adjustments to medical pros.
