Can multivitamins cause kidney stones?

My doctor recommended I take a multivitamin supplement, but my father had kidney stones a few years back. I heard somewhere that too many supplements can be bad. Is it true that multivitamins can cause kidney stones?

Hey, don't stress too much about it! Taking a normal, mild multivitamin once in a while is usually fine, but taking very high doses of Vitamin C or calcium daily can sometimes cause stones. Just drink plenty of water and you should be absolutely fine.

I had a painful complication with a kidney stone because I was self-prescribing heavy calcium and Vitamin D supplements. Excessive calcium and Vitamin C from multivitamins can build up in your kidneys and form stones. Please see a doctor to get your levels checked before taking any daily supplements.

We pop multivitamins like they are candies, but my doctor told me my body was just turning excess Vitamin C into kidney stones. Now I stick to drinking lots of water and eating basic food. My kidneys are too old for the thrill of passing stones!

Yes, taking too much Vitamin C or calcium through supplements can increase your risk of kidney stones. Just stay well-hydrated and check with a doctor.

I tried drinking barley water and coconut water for my kidney discomfort, which helped a lot, but I realized my daily heavy multivitamin was the real issue. High doses of Vitamin C get converted to oxalate, which forms stones. Try to get your nutrients from fresh fruits and simple food instead.

My teenager was given high-dose calcium and multivitamin gummies, and we had to stop them because the doctor warned it could lead to kidney stones. It's much safer to focus on a balanced diet and keep them well-hydrated. Always consult your pediatrician before starting any daily vitamins.
