Can mono cause liver enzymes to be high?

After my mono diagnosis, the recent blood reports showed that my liver enzymes are quite high. My doctor just said we need to monitor it. Can mono make liver enzymes be high?

Yes, infections can disrupt your system just like my thyroid fluctuations do. It is really important to get regular LFT blood tests done every few weeks to monitor the levels until they return to normal. Definitely keep your doctor informed.

Yes, almost everyone with mono gets elevated SGOT and SGPT levels. Don't worry, they will come down. Just avoid alcohol completely for at least 2-3 months and don't take any random painkillers without asking your doctor.

I totally get it, seeing those high numbers on your blood report can be so scary. But please try not to stress too much because it is a very common side effect of mono. Just focus on healing and resting right now.

Omg yes! My liver enzymes were sky high when I had mono during exams. I was so exhausted and the doctor told me it's totally linked. Basically had to hibernate and eat plain boiled food for weeks.

Yes, your liver basically decides to join the mono party and raise its enzyme levels! It is just a temporary phase though. Give it some rest, stop eating junk, and your liver will get bored and go back to normal.

I kept checking my reports every three days because I was so anxious about my liver enzymes. It actually took about 5 weeks to start coming down. Please hang in there, it takes time but it does get better.

I was also reading about this because my friend is sick with mono. Do the enzymes go down on their own, or do we have to take some specific medicine for it? I am a bit worried for her.
