Can mold cause vomiting in children?

My younger son has been having frequent stomach upsets and sometimes vomits without any clear reason. We do have some mold in our basement that I've been meaning to clean. Could mold be causing vomiting in children like my son?

Hey, don't stress too much! Kids have super sensitive stomachs, so a strong musty mold smell or touching moldy stuff can sometimes make them gag or throw up. Just keep the little one in a clean, airy room for now. If it happens again, just talk to your pediatrician to be safe.

You can give the child a spoonful of warm water with a drop of ginger juice and honey to calm their stomach. But if the vomiting is severe or accompanied by a high fever, please do not rely on these tips and take them to a doctor immediately. Also, make sure to scrub any mold in their bedroom with vinegar.

Children have very delicate bodies, and the bad air from damp walls can easily upset their health. I always tell my daughters to give children light khichdi and fresh coconut water to keep their strength up. But please, if the child is throwing up everything, take them to a child specialist without delay.

My son had the exact same issue last monsoon when his bedroom wall got damp. The mold spores triggered a bad cough which actually made him throw up at night. We shifted him to another room and got the wall treated immediately, and he was completely fine after that. Please check their room walls closely.

Kids need clean air and a healthy environment to build their immunity. Mold spores can easily irritate their breathing and digestion, leading to nausea. Focus on giving them clean, whole foods and plenty of outdoor playtime in fresh air, and make sure their indoor sleeping area is completely dry and mold-free.

I didn't know mold could affect children so badly, this is really scary to hear. My sister's baby has been throwing up lately and they have some dampness in their kitchen. Do you think even a small amount of mold can cause this, or does it have to be a lot? Please let me know.

A child's respiratory and digestive systems are deeply connected, and inhaling toxic mold disturbs their natural balance. Along with cleaning the mold, once they feel better, you can gently teach them simple breathing exercises like deep belly breathing. It helps strengthen their lungs and calms their nervous system naturally.
