Can mitral valve prolapse cause heart attack?

My mother was recently diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse, and we're trying to understand the condition better. We're quite concerned about potential complications. Can mitral valve prolapse cause a heart attack?

Oh god, I have MVP too and I literally spend hours worrying if every chest pain is a heart attack. From what my doctor told me, MVP is usually benign and doesn't directly cause a heart attack, but the anxiety is so real. Definitely talk to your cardiologist to put your mind at ease.

No, mitral valve prolapse itself doesn't cause a heart attack. Don't worry, but do keep up with your regular cardiac checkups.

Actually yaar, MVP is super common and most people live normal lives without even knowing they have it. It’s not the same as blocked arteries which cause heart attacks. Just chill and get a yearly 2D echo done.

I totally get it, any issue with the heart sounds absolutely terrifying. But please try not to panic, as MVP is generally a mild condition. Just make sure to get regular doctor follow-ups to monitor the valve.

Humare idhar bhi ek doctor babu ne bataya tha ki isse darna nahi chahiye. Yeh dil ke valve ki thodi dheeli banawat hoti hai, isse koi bada attack nahi hota. Bas samay par checkup karayein aur khush rahein.

Do you guys also get random chest pinches or palpitations because of MVP? I get so scared thinking it is a heart attack. Does anyone else deal with this daily?
