Can migraines cause fever and chills?

Every time I have a bad migraine, I not only get the throbbing headache but also feel really cold and shiver a bit, almost like I'm coming down with a flu. My wife said it might be a fever with chills. Can migraines cause both fever and chills?

If I had fever and chills on top of my regular migraine, I would literally lock myself in a dark room under three blankets and never come out! But seriously, sounds like a viral fever is triggering your headache. Go see a doc, get some real sleep.

Fever and chills are definitely not standard migraine symptoms. I once had these symptoms and assumed it was a migraine with flu, but it was actually a severe kidney infection that needed hospitalization. Please go see a doctor immediately to be safe.

Actually, fever and chills don't happen with a normal migraine yaar. It is highly likely you have caught a viral bug or malaria/dengue which is causing the head to throb. Please go get your temperature checked at a clinic.

I totally get it, shivering with a splitting headache is a horrible feeling and makes you feel so weak. But since fever isn't a typical migraine symptom, you really need to let a doctor check you. Please take care of yourself.

Instead of going to a big expensive hospital where they charge 1000 rupees just for entry, visit a local government hospital or small clinic. They can do a basic blood test for malaria or viral infection very cheaply. Get it checked properly without burning a hole in your pocket.
