Can migraines cause diarrhea and vomiting?

Whenever I get a really bad migraine, along with the head pain, I also start feeling very nauseous and then I get diarrhea and end up vomiting. Is this normal? Can migraines actually cause these stomach issues like diarrhea and vomiting?

Yes, both vomiting and stomach upset can happen during a bad migraine. Please try to rest in a dark room and drink small sips of water to stay hydrated. Take care.

Yes, but be extremely careful about dehydration. I once had severe vomiting and diarrhea with a migraine and ended up in the hospital on an IV drip because my blood pressure crashed. If you can't keep any liquids down, go to a clinic immediately.

They definitely can, it's called the gut-brain axis getting threw off. You lose a lot of electrolytes this way, so keep sipping on ORS or coconut water. Skip any workouts until your stomach and head fully recover.

Oh absolutely, it's a complete party! Vomiting from one end and diarrhoea from the other, all while your brain feels like it is being hit by a hammer. Honestly, just lie down near the bathroom and hope for some sleep.

Our gut and brain are deeply connected, so when the mind is in pain, the stomach reacts too. Keep yourself calm, stay positive, and let your body rest. If the symptoms are too severe, definitely consult a doctor.
