Can menopause cause diabetes?

My mother recently started menopause, and her doctor also mentioned some concerns about her blood sugar levels. She was worried if menopause could be a factor in developing diabetes. Is there a connection between menopause and the onset of diabetes?

I completely understand how overwhelming it is when your body goes through so many changes at once. While menopause doesn't directly cause diabetes, hormonal shifts can lead to weight gain and insulin resistance, raising the risk.

It was so frustrating for me when my blood sugar started creeping up right around my menopause. The drop in estrogen levels really affects how your body handles insulin, so you are definitely not alone in facing this.

Hormonal changes in women after menopause can definitely make blood glucose levels fluctuate. Managing your overall lifestyle, checking blood pressure, and keeping up with regular doctor visits is highly recommended.

Beta, during this change of life, the body's digestion and metabolism slow down. Drink methi water in the morning and eat lighter home-cooked meals, but do get your sugar tested by a doctor regularly.

Yes, hormonal changes during menopause can increase your risk of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. Keep a regular check on your HbA1c levels.
