Can manuka honey help eczema?

I've had eczema since childhood, and it flares up quite often, leaving my skin itchy and irritated. My friend recommended Manuka honey as a natural remedy. Can Manuka honey actually help soothe or treat eczema?

Manuka honey is so expensive, it might heal your skin but it will definitely give your wallet a minor heart attack! It is good for soothing dry patches, but just don't let the ants get to you while you sleep.

It can help soothe the redness because of its antibacterial properties, but make sure you buy medical-grade honey. Don't worry, eczema is tough to deal with but with a little care and the right moisturizer, it gets better. Take care of yourself.

Manuka honey has natural healing properties, yes, but for active eczema flare-ups with raw skin, you need to be very careful about infections. It is safer to use a basic doctor-recommended emollient cream instead of putting food items on open skin.

Honestly, imported Manuka honey costs too much in India. Standard virgin coconut oil or good old mustard oil works just as well to keep the dry skin moisturized, and it is much easier on the pocket for daily use.

My daughter had bad eczema patches behind her knees. I tried applying a thin layer of organic honey and it did reduce the itching, but it gets very sticky and messy. A fragrance-free moisturizer worked much better for her.

Please go to a dermatologist instead of experimenting at home. I kept applying raw honey and oils on my skin infection thinking it was simple dry skin, and it got so badly infected that I had to take heavy antibiotics later.

Natural things like honey and aloe vera are very good for mild dry skin. But if the eczema is oozing water, bleeding, or looking very red, please don't do home treatment and show it to a skin doctor immediately.

Applying natural honey can calm the outer skin, but skin issues usually start from inside the body. Along with gentle external care, try practicing daily pranayama and drinking warm water to flush out toxins from your system.

In our villages, we always used fresh neem paste or organic honey for skin rashes, and it does give relief. But you must make sure the honey is pure and chemical-free, otherwise it can increase the burning sensation on sensitive skin.

Manuka honey is imported and costs thousands of rupees for a small jar. If you are on a budget, just buy a basic tub of white petroleum jelly or liquid paraffin from any local chemist, it costs less than fifty rupees and protects the skin barrier.
