Can magnesium supplements cause kidney stones?

I've been considering taking magnesium supplements for my muscle cramps. However, I've heard some things about supplements and kidney stones. Can taking magnesium supplements increase my risk of developing kidney stones?

At 52, my body finds new ways to surprise me every day! But thankfully, magnesium supplements don't cause kidney stones. In fact, they usually prevent them. Just drink your water and stop worrying so much.

I don't have time to worry about every pill, but magnesium actually prevents calcium oxalate from forming stones. Just make sure you are drinking at least 3 liters of water daily while on supplements.

With my thyroid issues, I have to be very careful with electrolytes and kidney health. Magnesium is generally safe and prevents stones, but I always suggest getting regular blood tests and checking with your doctor to keep everything balanced.

Hey, don't stress too much about this! Magnesium actually helps *prevent* kidney stones, it won't cause them. Just stay hydrated and you'll be absolutely fine, trust me.

Don't believe everything you read on random blogs claiming supplements cause stones. Scientifically, magnesium reduces stone formation. However, please consult a real doctor to check your kidney health before starting any heavy dosage.
