Can magnesium glycinate cause elevated liver enzymes?

My doctor prescribed magnesium glycinate for my chronic pain, and I've been taking it for a few months. My recent blood report showed slightly elevated liver enzymes. Could there be a connection with the magnesium supplement?

Honestly, I take magnesium glycinate before exams to sleep better and my health reports are totally fine. I don't think it raises liver enzymes unless you are taking crazy high doses. Better to ask a doc though!

I totally get why you are worried, looking at blood test numbers can be so scary. But magnesium glycinate is actually very gentle and rarely causes elevated liver enzymes. Try not to stress, and let your doctor explain the report.

Bhaji, magnesium se liver kharab nahi hota hai. Yeh toh seedha saadha supplement hai jo neend ke liye accha hai. Agar liver report me kuch upar neeche hai toh doctor babu ko dikha lo, chinta mat karo.

Please be careful. While magnesium is usually safe, I once had a bad reaction to a low-quality supplement that had heavy metals, which raised my liver enzymes. Always get your liver function test monitored by a doctor.

I freaked out last year when my SGOT/SGPT came back slightly high while taking magnesium. Turns out it was just due to a mild viral fever I had a week prior, not the supplement! My doctor said magnesium glycinate is completely safe.

I was planning to buy magnesium glycinate today, but is this a common side effect? Should I do a liver function test before starting it just to be safe?

My son was taking magnesium glycinate for muscle recovery and we got worried about his liver too. We spoke to his pediatrician who assured us it doesn't affect liver enzymes. Just stick to the recommended pediatric or adult dose.

My gastroenterologist explained that magnesium glycinate is actually metabolized safely and doesn't cause hepatotoxicity. If your ALT/AST levels are elevated, he suggested looking into dietary fats, alcohol intake, or other prescription drugs first.

At 52, even drinking an extra cup of tea makes me worry about my liver! But honestly, magnesium glycinate is too mild to cause liver issues. Just don't gulp down pills like candies and you'll be fine.

Hello! In most cases, magnesium glycinate does not elevate liver enzymes. It is actually highly absorbable and safe. If your enzymes are high, it could be fatty liver or some other medication, so please get it checked.

No, it doesn't. Magnesium glycinate is very liver-friendly. Just make sure you buy a reputed brand.

I had elevated liver enzymes last month and immediately stopped my magnesium glycinate thinking it was the culprit. But after a week, my doctor found out it was actually a mild case of jaundice. Magnesium had nothing to do with it!
