Can magnesium cause nausea and vomiting?

I just started taking magnesium for better sleep, but after a couple of days, I've been feeling a bit nauseous and even vomited once. Could it be because of the magnesium? I'm not sure if I should continue taking it.

I was thinking of starting magnesium for my headaches, but now I'm a bit scared. Does it really cause nausea every time you take it? Is there a specific type that is more gentle on the stomach?

Yeah bro, totally. I took magnesium oxide on an empty stomach once and felt like throwing up within half an hour. Switch to magnesium glycinate and always eat something before taking it, it makes a huge difference.

Actually yaar, magnesium oxide and citrate can really mess with your stomach if you take too much. It triggers nausea pretty fast. Try reducing the dosage or shifting to glycinate, it's way milder.

This is a very common issue if your body is not used to it. The trick is to start with a very low dose, like 100mg, and take it right after a heavy meal. Never take it on an empty stomach and stay well hydrated.

In my years of taking various supplements, I have noticed that magnesium definitely causes a bit of stomach upset if the dose is too high. Don't worry, just stop it for a couple of days and talk to your doctor about adjusting the dose.
