Can lymes disease cause vomiting?

Last month, I was trekking and got a tick bite. Since then, I've been feeling quite unwell and have had a few episodes of vomiting. Could Lyme disease be causing these stomach issues and vomiting?

My roommate got diagnosed with Lyme and she was throwing up constantly during the first week. It was super scary. Apparently, the high fever and strong antibiotics can really mess up your stomach.

Yes, Lyme disease can cause nausea and vomiting, especially during the early stages of infection or as a reaction to treatment.

I totally get it, vomiting and constant nausea on top of body aches is absolutely draining. It makes you feel so weak and miserable. Please try to sip some electrolyte water to stay hydrated and rest as much as you can.

I once ignored severe nausea and vomiting thinking it was just food poisoning, but it turned out to be a systemic infection that got worse. Please do not delay seeing a doctor. If you suspect Lyme and are vomiting, get medical help immediately.

At Apollo, the specialist told us that neurological involvement in Lyme can sometimes trigger vomiting. Ask your doctor clearly if you need any anti-emetic medications or if they need to check for neurological symptoms. Don't try to manage it at home.
