Can lyme disease cause rheumatoid arthritis?

My joint pains have become unbearable, and my doctor is considering a rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis. My colleague, who had similar issues, said it might be Lyme disease. Can Lyme disease actually lead to or cause rheumatoid arthritis?

I totally get how scary it is when your joints start swelling and you worry it is a life-long condition like rheumatoid arthritis. Lyme disease causes joint pain called Lyme arthritis, which is different from RA. Please don't panic, once the infection is treated, the joint pain usually resolves.

Actually yaar, Lyme disease directly rheumatoid arthritis toh nahi cause karta, but joint pain and swelling bilkul identical lagte hain. Mere friend ko hua tha and he was so stressed. Just get a proper blood test done to clear the confusion.

I just finished my antibiotic course for Lyme last month. My knee swelling was so bad I thought it was rheumatoid arthritis, but it was just Lyme arthritis. Once the antibiotics kicked in, the swelling disappeared completely. Stay patient, it gets better.

Lyme arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis have different treatment lines, so an accurate diagnosis is critical to avoid wasting time. Book an appointment with a rheumatologist immediately. They will run specific panels to pinpoint the exact issue so you can start the right therapy.

Since both conditions involve severe joint inflammation, it is easy to confuse them. You must get a proper medical checkup and blood work to be absolutely safe. Don't leave joint pain untreated as it can cause long-term damage.
