Can lupus cause fatty liver disease?

My doctor recently diagnosed me with fatty liver disease, and I also have lupus which I've been managing for years. I'm trying to understand all the potential connections between my conditions. Is it possible for lupus to cause fatty liver disease?

I was researching this because my cousin has lupus and was recently diagnosed with fatty liver. It seems like the steroids used for lupus treatment are often the main culprit behind liver fat accumulation. It's really interesting how one medicine can trigger another issue.

Just like with thyroid, autoimmune issues like lupus require constant monitoring of metabolic health. Fatty liver is quite common, so you must get regular LFTs and lipid profiles done. Always keep your doctor in the loop so they can adjust your doses if needed.

In my years of supporting lupus patients, fatty liver is a frequent topic. It usually happens due to prolonged steroid therapy. Don't worry, it is very reversible with a low-fat diet, light exercise, and proper guidance from your rheumatologist.

Yes, lupus treatment can sometimes cause fatty liver. You don't need expensive treatments for this; just stick to simple home-cooked food with minimal oil and walk for 30 minutes daily. Consult your doctor to see if they need to change any medications.

Yes, lupus and its medications can definitely lead to fatty liver disease. Regular monitoring and a low-oil diet help keep it under control.
