Can low thyroid cause high triglycerides?

My recent blood work showed that I have high triglycerides, and I also have low thyroid. I'm curious if having low thyroid can lead to elevated triglyceride levels.

My elders always tell me to use less oil in cooking, which is good advice. However, low thyroid slows down the body's ability to clear cholesterol and triglycerides from the blood. Please consult a doctor to check your thyroid dose, as that often brings lipid levels down.

I freaked out when my lipid profile showed high triglycerides, thinking I was going to have a heart issue! But my doctor reassured me that it was just because of my untreated low thyroid. Once we fixed the thyroid dose, my lipid levels came back to normal.

Yes, they are definitely linked! When your thyroid is slow, your metabolism goes to sleep, and fat like triglycerides starts building up in your blood. Just get your thyroid levels checked and your doctor will help you sort it out easily.

High triglycerides can be risky for your heart health in the long run. Since low thyroid can directly cause lipid levels to rise, you should not delay. Please get both a lipid profile and thyroid panel done and consult a general physician immediately.

I ignored my slightly high TSH and high lipid reports for over a year, and my health got much worse because of it. Please don't ignore these signs. Get your blood checked regularly and follow your doctor's treatment plan.

I completely understand how stressful it feels to see bad numbers on your lab reports. It made me feel so anxious and down. But please know that this is a very common effect of low thyroid, and it gets better once your hormones are balanced by a doctor.

I had a similar issue last year. My triglycerides were high even though I was eating clean, and it turned out to be due to my thyroid. Once I started my thyroid pills, my cholesterol levels improved. Definitely get your thyroid checked!

Even with a strict oil-free vegetarian diet, your triglycerides can remain high if your thyroid metabolism is slow. Diet is helpful, but you must consult an endocrinologist to see if your thyroid hormone needs medication.

Your thyroid is basically the manager of your body's fat-burning department. When the manager takes a nap, the fat (triglycerides) just piles up! Don't worry, just get your thyroid checked and your doctor will wake the manager up.

My lab reports just came back showing high triglycerides and a low thyroid. I am feeling very anxious about this. Has anyone else experienced this, and did your levels go back to normal after starting thyroid medication?
