Can liver function tests be normal with cirrhosis?

A relative was recently diagnosed with cirrhosis, but surprisingly, her routine liver function tests came back within the normal range. I always thought cirrhosis meant bad LFTs. Can liver function tests be normal even if someone has cirrhosis?

I was actually reading up on this recently out of curiosity and was shocked to find out that yes, LFTs can sometimes be normal even with cirrhosis. Apparently, the liver can compensate for a long time. It's crazy how sneaky these things can be!

Beta, in my experience, normal blood reports don't always mean everything is fine inside. My cousin had normal LFT reports but his ultrasound showed early cirrhosis. Don't just rely on basic blood tests, always get a proper scan done if you suspect something.

Since managing my diabetes, I've learned that blood tests don't always show the full picture of organ health. Yes, cirrhosis can exist even with normal LFTs. Make sure to consult your doctor for a detailed imaging test like an ultrasound to be absolutely sure.

Yes, LFT can come out normal even if there is damage. Instead of spending repeatedly on cheap blood tests, it is better to budget for a proper ultrasound or FibroScan. It might cost a bit more upfront, but it gives an accurate picture and saves money in the long run.

Haan, hamare gaon mein ek babuji ka report ekdum normal tha, par unhe liver ki badi bimari nikli jab unhone bada test karwaya. Aap bilkul chinta mat karo, par kisi bade doctor ko dikha kar unki salah zaroor le lo.

Yes, it is definitely possible for liver function tests to look normal during compensated cirrhosis. For your own safety, please don't just rely on LFT values. Get a proper consultation and further tests like a FibroScan or ultrasound done as advised by a doctor.

Actually yaar, my doctor told me that LFT only shows active liver damage, so if the scarring is already done, the reports can look surprisingly normal. It's super tricky! You definitely need an ultrasound or a scan to know what's really happening.
