Can lack of sleep make you sick?

After long business trips with broken sleep, I always feel run down and catch a cold very easily. My wife says it's because I'm not sleeping enough. Does a lack of sleep really make your body more susceptible to getting sick?

Yes, it absolutely can. When you don't sleep, your body's immune system doesn't get time to repair itself, making you catch infections easily. Please don't push yourself so hard, take a break from work today, have some hot soup, and sleep early.

While rest is important, don't blindly follow home remedies or internet advice if you are feeling genuinely sick. Sometimes a viral infection or vitamin deficiency is the real cause, not just lack of sleep. It is always better to get verified advice from a proper doctor.

Actually yes, yaar. Last month I was barely sleeping due to some family stress, and I caught a terrible cold and cough out of nowhere. My body felt so weak, like it had completely shut down. We really take sleep for granted sometimes.

In my experience, whenever my sleep cycle breaks, I end up getting mild headaches and a scratchy throat the very next day. I don't know the medical science behind it, but my body definitely feels run down without proper rest.

I've been feeling so feverish and weak after sleeping poorly for three nights, and now I'm constantly checking my temperature. Does anyone else get this shivering feeling just from exhaustion? It's making me really anxious.

I used to ignore my constant fatigue and body aches, thinking it was just due to bad sleep habits, until my blood pressure shot up dangerously. Please don't make the same mistake I did. If you feel sick consistently, go see a doctor for a proper checkup.

I see this question very often here. Yes, sleep is when our body produces cytokines to fight infection, so less sleep means you feel sick much faster. Try eating light, warm foods and keeping your room dark at night to get deep, restorative rest.

It definitely makes you sick, but before spending 3000 rupees on a full body checkup package, just try sleeping 8 hours daily for a week. Correcting your sleep routine costs zero rupees and often cures half of these general body aches and fatigue issues.

Yes, sleep is like a charger for our body! If we stay on 1% battery, we are bound to crash and feel sick. Grab a cozy blanket, drink some warm tea, and let your body recover today.

Bro, I am typing this with dark circles down to my cheeks, and yes, my throat is sore and my head is heavy. Lack of sleep turns you into a walking zombie who catches every passing flu. Save yourselves and go to sleep!
