Can lack of sleep cause yellow eyes?

My eyes sometimes have a yellowish tint, especially when I'm really tired and haven't slept properly. I'm wondering if this discoloration is linked to my poor sleep habits. Can lack of sleep actually make my eyes look yellow?

Actually, lack of sleep might make your eyes look tired and dull, but true yellow eyes usually mean jaundice or liver issues. If it's yellow, you should probably skip the heavy street food for a bit and see a doctor.

Sleep deprivation can make your eyes look red and strained, but yellow is a different story. That usually points to liver strain or high bilirubin. Keep your diet clean, drink lots of water, and definitely get a blood test done.

Beta, yellowing of the eyes is not a simple sleep issue, it is related to the liver. While you should drink sugarcane juice or tender coconut water to cool the body, you must go to a doctor immediately to get your liver checked.

Please do not ignore yellow eyes. I once blamed my yellowing eyes on sleep deprivation and late-night work, but it turned out to be severe hepatitis. Please see a doctor immediately and get a liver function test.

While tired eyes can look slightly discolored, proper yellowing is a medical concern. The most practical thing is to go to a local lab and get a simple blood test done for bilirubin, then show the report to a doctor.
