Can lack of sleep cause vertigo?

Sometimes I get dizzy spells and feel like the room is spinning, which is very disorienting. My sleep has been terrible for months because of family issues. My sister said that lack of sleep can cause vertigo; is that true?

Yes, sleep deprivation directly affects your balance and inner ear, which can trigger vertigo attacks.

Haan yaar, jab neend poori nahi hoti toh sar toh ghumega hi na. Exhaustion ki wajah se balance kharab ho jata hai. Aaj jaldi so jao aur phone ko thoda door rakho, apne aap theek ho jayega.

Oh my god, vertigo is the absolute worst, the whole room starts spinning and it is so terrifying! I get it whenever my sleep is messed up. Please lie down immediately, don't make sudden head movements, and get some rest.

Listen, if you keep sleeping for only 4 hours and expect your brain to work perfectly, it won't. Vertigo is serious and feels terrible. Stop scrolling on your phone at night and sleep. If it still spins, go see an ENT specialist.

While sleep deprivation can definitely exacerbate balance issues, true vertigo is often related to the vestibular system in your inner ear. It is highly recommended to get a proper evaluation from a physician rather than assuming it is just tiredness.

I used to ignore my dizzy spells and blame it entirely on work stress and bad sleep, until I actually fell down one day. Don't make that mistake. Please consult a doctor to get your inner ear and blood pressure checked properly.

I totally get it, that spinning feeling can make you feel so helpless and nauseous. Lack of sleep strains your nervous system, which makes vertigo much worse. Please take a sick day, shut the curtains, and just rest today.
