Can lack of sleep cause pimples?

My skin has been breaking out with so many pimples lately, and I can't figure out why. I've been stressing over my board exams and sleeping only 4-5 hours a night. Could this lack of sleep be making my skin so bad?

Yes, it can. When you don't sleep enough, your body releases cortisol, which is a stress hormone. This can increase oil production in your skin and lead to breakouts. Try to get 7-8 hours of sleep and wash your face before bed.

My mother always says that sleeping late increases 'body heat' and causes pimples on the face. There is definitely truth to it as bad sleep increases stress. If it is very severe, do visit a dermatologist once.

Omg yes! Every time I stay up late binge-watching, a new pimple shows up the very next day. It's like my skin instantly reacts to tiredness. Sleep is honestly the best skincare routine you can have, and it's totally free!

Yes, sleep deprivation increases skin inflammation. Make sure you also change your pillowcase regularly as it collects dirt and oils.

It definitely ruins your skin! I get tiny bumps whenever I sleep poorly. Drinking lots of water and applying a little aloe vera gel helps calm the skin, but if you have painful cystic acne, you should consult a doctor.
