Can lack of sleep cause bloodshot eyes?

After studying all night for exams, my eyes always look super red and tired the next day. I'm wondering if it's just eye strain or if the lack of sleep itself is making them bloodshot like this. What could be the actual reason?

My mother always tells me to wash my eyes with cold water and put a drop of pure rose water when they get red from lack of sleep. It is comforting, but if the redness doesn't go away after a good night's rest, you must consult an eye specialist.

Before running to an eye clinic and paying high consultation fees for expensive drops, just try a simple, free solution: sleep early for two days and limit your screen time. If the redness is still there, then plan a doctor's visit.

Oh absolutely, during semester exams my roommates and I all look like zombies with red eyes. It is just basic eye strain from pulling back-to-back all-nighters. Just sleep it off over the weekend and they will be fine.

At my age, I can tell you that your body will always show when you are pushing it too hard. Red, tired eyes are just nature's way of telling you to close them and rest. Don't worry, a few nights of timely sleep will make them clear again.

Bro, definitely. After every coding sprint or late-night gaming session, my eyes look completely red and bloodshot. It is just the blood vessels dilating because of strain and dryness. A solid 8 hours of sleep usually fixes it completely.

Haan na, red eyes toh bohot common hain jab hum late night tak jagte hain. The eyes get very dry because we don't blink enough while looking at screens. Thoda cold compress use karo aur phone side mein rakh ke so jao.
