Can kissing cause cavities?

My friend told me that cavities can be contagious, like you can get them from kissing someone. Is that actually true? Can kissing someone really lead to getting cavities yourself?

Haan yaar, bilkul ho sakta hai na! Doctor batate hain ki cavity wale bacteria saliva ke through transfer ho sakte hain. Isiliye dono partners ka dental hygiene accha hona chahiye, simple si baat hai.

Wait, is this really true? I got two new cavities recently and my partner has bad teeth too, so now I'm super anxious thinking if I got it from him. Has anyone else experienced sudden dental issues after starting a relationship?

I can only share what my dentist told me during my last checkup. He mentioned that sharing spoons or kissing can actually pass cavity-causing bacteria. Since then, both my husband and I make sure to brush twice a day.

I completely understand how worrying it feels when you hear that even kissing can cause dental issues. Try not to panic; while bacteria can transfer, practicing basic flossing and brushing twice a day is usually more than enough to protect your teeth.

It's absolutely true because Streptococcus mutans, the main bacteria behind cavities, is transmissible through saliva. The most realistic tip is to use an antiseptic mouthwash and make sure both partners get regular dental cleanings to keep the bacterial load low.
