Can kidney stones move from one kidney to another?
My relative had kidney stones in both kidneys, and I only have one currently. I'm a bit scared if it can spread. Is it possible for a stone to travel from one kidney all the way to the other side?

Nahi yaar, ek kidney se doosri kidney mein stone directly nahi ja sakta na. Dono ka rasta alag hota hai bilkul. Haan, ye ho sakta hai ki dono side alag-alag stones ban rahe ho aur aapko lage ki wahi wala ghum ke chala gaya.
Please don't go by what people say on forums about stones traveling across the body. The anatomy doesn't work that way because kidneys aren't connected directly to each other. Go verify this with a proper urologist instead of worrying about internet myths.
Haha, thankfully there is no highway inside us for stones to travel from left to right kidney! They aren't visiting relatives in the other kidney. If you have pain on both sides, it just means both your kidneys are working overtime making their own individual stones.
I was actually wondering the exact same thing because last week my left side was hurting and now my right side feels heavy. Did anyone else experience this kind of shifting pain? It makes me so anxious thinking if a new stone has formed there already.
Physiologically they can't jump from one to the other. But bad hydration and a high-sodium diet can definitely cause stones to develop in both kidneys simultaneously. I always make sure to hit my daily water target of 3.5 liters and limit my salt intake to keep both sides clean.
