Can kidney stones get stuck in the ureter?

My doctor said my kidney stone is currently in the ureter, which is why the pain is so intense. I'm concerned it won't move. Can kidney stones get stuck in the ureter and cause major issues?

Yes, they can get stuck in the ureter quite easily because it is a very narrow tube. Make sure you keep drinking plenty of water to help it glide down.

Hey, don't worry too much, but yes, the ureter is the most common place for stones to get stuck. If you are feeling a sharp pain that travels from your back to your lower abdomen, that's likely what's happening. Just check in with a doctor so they can give you something to ease the pain and help it pass safely.

In my fifty years, I have seen many family members face this exact issue. Yes, the stone often gets stuck in that small passage, which causes the classic sharp back pain. But don't be afraid, modern medicine has very simple ways to handle this now, so just consult your family doctor.

I completely understand the pain because I tried everything from banana stem juice to pumpkin seed water when my stone got stuck in the ureter. Honestly, while those home remedies can support your kidney health, they won't magically melt a large stuck stone. Save yourself the agony and let a doctor evaluate it.

Yes, stones frequently get stuck there. Once you get past this painful episode with a doctor's help, make sure you look at your diet to prevent future ones. Cutting down on high-oxalate foods like spinach and tomatoes, and reducing extra salt in your home-cooked meals can really prevent new stones from forming.

Oh god, yes, it gets stuck and basically ensures you don't sleep a wink all night. I spent three nights pacing my room because the ureter pain wouldn't let me lie down comfortably. Do yourself a favor and get some pain relief from a doctor before you lose your sanity like I did.

It can get stuck, but before you panic about expensive surgeries, just know that a simple ultrasound is quite cheap and will show the exact position. If the stone is small, doctors usually prefer conservative management with cheap generic medicines first. Ask for a basic budget estimate if they suggest any hospital procedures, just to be prepared.

I am also dealing with some lower back pain and I'm really scared it might be a stuck stone. If a stone is stuck in the ureter, does the pain stay constant or does it come and go? I would be really grateful if anyone could share their experience.

Ureter is very thin, so even a 5mm stone can easily get stuck there and cause pain. The most practical thing is to get a basic ultrasound from a nearby lab, which doesn't cost much, and show it to a local physician. They will usually prescribe some tablets that dilate the tube so the stone can slip out.

Yes, the ureter can get blocked, causing physical stress to the body. While you must follow your doctor's medical advice, doing very gentle deep breathing or pranayama can help relax your nervous system and manage the intense pain waves. Keep your mind calm and stay hydrated.

I literally just went through this last month, my 5mm stone was stuck in the mid-ureter for ten days. The pain was coming in waves, which my doc said was the tube squeezing to push it out. Drinking 3-4 liters of water daily and taking the prescribed meds finally did the trick for me.

Yes, the ureter is very narrow, so stones get stuck there quite often. It usually causes sharp back and side pain.
