Can kidney stones get stuck?

I'm currently trying to pass a kidney stone, and the pain is terrible. My main fear is that it might get stuck somewhere along the way. Can kidney stones actually get stuck during passage?

Haan, they definitely can get stuck, especially if they are larger than 4 or 5mm. Usually they get stuck in the narrow tubes like the ureter on their way down to the bladder. If you feel sudden, sharp pain in your back or side, you should get an ultrasound done to see exactly where it is.

Oh absolutely, they can get stuck and it honestly hurts like crazy. I had a 6mm stone last year that got stuck for almost two weeks before it finally passed. Just keep drinking water and coconut water, but please check with a doc if the pain is too much to handle.

Haan yaar, bilkul phas sakte hain agar size thoda bada ho toh. Mere chacha ji ka bhi stone stuck ho gaya tha beech mein toh unhe doctor ke paas jana pada tha. Pani peete raho daba ke, but agar pain bohot zyaada badh jaye na, toh turant scan karwa lena chahiye.

Please be very careful about this because I had a stone get stuck that completely blocked my kidney, leading to a severe infection. I had to undergo emergency stenting because I ignored the dull ache for too long. If you suspect it is stuck, please get a proper scan done by a specialist right away.

Yes beta, kidney stones can get stuck anywhere along the urinary tract. My husband went through this twice and drinking loads of water is usually the key to flush the small ones out. But if the pain becomes unbearable or if there is fever, please go to the clinic immediately instead of waiting.

I panicked like crazy when my side started aching, thinking the stone was stuck forever and I would need major surgery. But actually, my doctor told me it just takes some time to slide down the narrow passage. It is super common and most of the time they pass with just meds and plenty of fluids, so try not to stress.

From what I have read while managing my own health issues, yes, they can get stuck if they are too big to pass naturally. Since our bodies are already dealing with hormonal imbalances, it is always safer not to ignore these symptoms. Better to get a quick doctor consult rather than trying to guess if it's stuck or not.
