Can kidney stones dissolve without passing?

I have a small kidney stone that's causing me some discomfort. I'm really hoping I don't have to go through the pain of passing it. Is there any chance that kidney stones can just dissolve without having to be passed?

I am a bit confused about how this works. If a stone dissolves inside, does it mean we won't feel any pain or see it come out at all? Or does it still have to pass out as tiny pieces that we might notice?

When my daughter was diagnosed with a uric acid stone, the doctor gave her a syrup that slowly dissolved it. It basically broke down into microscopic particles, so we didn't see any stone passing in her urine, and her pain slowly went away. It's always best to let a doctor guide you on this.

According to the health tracking app I use, certain types of stones like uric acid ones can be dissolved completely using alkalizing agents prescribed by a doctor, meaning they turn into liquid form and flush out invisibly. However, calcium stones don't dissolve this way and usually must pass physically.

Over the years, I have seen many family members deal with this. Yes, if you are lucky enough to have the kind of stone that dissolves with doctor's medicine, it will melt into the urine and flow out without you ever feeling it pass. Have faith and follow your doctor's advice.

I totally get it, the fear of that sharp pain while passing a stone can make anyone anxious. Yes, some stones can dissolve completely into tiny, invisible particles with the right medical treatment, so you won't have to suffer through passing a solid stone. Speak to your doctor to see if your stone qualifies.

Yes, they actually can! Uric acid stones can melt away like magic with the right doctor-prescribed syrups, so you don't have to worry about passing a scary stone. 💧 Just stay super hydrated and keep smiling!

I remember crying for nights fearing the pain of passing my stone. Knowing that some stones can be dissolved with medicine and washed out invisibly was such a huge emotional relief for me. Your feelings are completely valid, and I highly suggest talking to your doctor about this option.

My doc gave me a special syrup for my uric acid stone, and it literally dissolved into nothing. I kept waiting to feel it pass, but it just went away quietly. So yes, it is possible, but you need the right doctor to diagnose the stone type first.

Drinking lots of lemon water and barley water can help create an environment that supports dissolving small stones, but honestly, only medical syrups from a doctor can properly dissolve certain stones without passing. If you have any sharp pain or fever, don't wait, see a doctor immediately.

Yes, some stones can be dissolved completely by medications, so they just wash out quietly with your urine. Don't worry too much, just consult your doctor and they will help find the easiest solution for you.

In my experience, only uric acid stones dissolve with alkalizing medications, while calcium oxalate ones usually have to pass physically. My tip is to get a 24-hour urine analysis done to find out your stone type so your doctor can give you the exact treatment to dissolve it if possible.

Hey, I totally feel you! It's so much nicer to think of them just dissolving instead of the painful passing process. Some stones can indeed break down completely with specific meds, so you won't feel a thing. Definitely ask your doctor if your stone can be treated this way!
