Can kidney stones dissolve in the kidney?

I have a kidney stone that's still quite high up in the kidney. I'm wondering if it can dissolve there itself, or if it needs to move down to pass. Can kidney stones dissolve while still in the kidney?

Yes, certain stones like those made of uric acid can dissolve right in the kidney if the urine pH is altered through diet and medications. Including more alkaline-forming foods like fresh vegetables and lemon water can help, but always consult a doctor before making major dietary changes.

Humare yahan log bolte hain ki dawa pine se pathri andar hi gal jati hai. Kuch hadd tak yeh sahi hai agar pathri choti ho aur doctor ki sahi dawa chal rahi ho. Aap ek baar achhe doctor ko dikha lijiye, woh sahi rasta batayenge.

My grandmother used to suggest drinking banana stem juice to dissolve stones in the kidney, which many in our family swear by. However, I always believe in trusting a doctor's diagnosis first. They can tell us through an ultrasound if the stone is of the type that can actually be dissolved.

I completely understand how stressful it is to worry about a stone sitting in your kidney and wondering if it needs surgery. It is true that some stones can be dissolved directly in the kidney with specific oral medications, so please don't lose peace of mind. Discuss your options with a supportive doctor.

Yes, specific types like uric acid stones can dissolve in the kidney with proper medical treatment, but calcium-based stones usually do not.
