Can kidney stones cause pain in the kidney?

My back hurts right where my kidney is, and I know I have kidney stones. So, is it confirmed that kidney stones cause direct pain in the kidney area itself? I just want to know if that's the reason for my discomfort.

Yes, they cause a sharp, throbbing pain right where the kidneys are, in the upper back. When my daughter had it, keeping a warm hot water bag on her back gave her some comfort before we saw the doctor.

The pain in the kidney area can be very persistent. Just like we need regular blood tests for thyroid tracking, you should get an ultrasound done to see the stone's size and follow up with a doctor.

Don't just assume it is a stone and start drinking random home mixtures. Severe pain in the kidney area needs to be verified with a proper ultrasound and a urologist's advice.

I have had stones multiple times, and that deep flank pain is very typical. Don't worry, the pain will vanish once the stone passes or is removed by the doctor. Drink plenty of water.

Yes, it causes a sharp pain in the side back. Just drink lots of lukewarm water, avoid heavy foods, and visit a local clinic for a basic scan to know the stone size.

I totally get it, that sharp flank pain is incredibly painful and exhausting to deal with. Please rest as much as you can and seek medical help to manage the pain effectively.

Oh, they definitely do! It feels like a small drill working inside your back. At this age, a kidney stone is the last thing you want, so get it checked before it knocks you down.
