Can kidney stones cause lower abdominal pain?

I have kidney stones and sometimes I get this sharp pain in my lower abdomen. Is it possible for kidney stones to cause pain in the lower abdominal area, even if the stones are higher up? It's quite confusing.

Yes, when the stone moves down into the ureter, the pain shifts to the lower abdomen. If your doctor allows, light walking can actually help gravity pull the stone down, but don't overdo it if the pain is too sharp.

That lower belly pain is honestly so terrifying and exhausting, I remember crying in bed for hours. It feels like something is tearing inside, but please know you are not alone and it will pass once the stone is out. Stay strong.

My teenager had this severe lower abdominal pain and we thought it was appendicitis at first, but it turned out to be a 5mm kidney stone. Keep a warm heating pad on the stomach and give them plenty of warm water to help soothe the spasms.

The radiating pain to the lower belly can be managed by sitting in a warm bath and practicing deep, gentle diaphragmatic breathing. It helps relax the pelvic muscles. However, do seek a doctor's help if the pain is too severe.

Yes, absolutely. The pain typically moves from the back down to the lower abdomen as the stone travels.

Yes, it is very common. Just drink plenty of lukewarm water, avoid spicy food for a few days, and keep a hot water bag handy. If the pain becomes unbearable, go to a nearby clinic for a simple pain relief injection.

I totally get it, that sharp pain in the lower abdomen can make you feel so helpless and miserable. When the stone reaches the lower part of the tube, it causes severe muscle spasms. Hang in there, it means the stone is moving down.
