Can kidney stones cause low back pain?

I've always had some low back pain, but since my kidney stone diagnosis, it feels different, more intense. Can kidney stones be the reason for this new kind of lower back pain, or is it just my usual back trouble acting up?

I have had stones three times in my life, and every single time, it started as a dull ache in my lower back before moving to the side. Don't worry too much, just drink warm water and get an ultrasound done to confirm the stone.

Absolutely, kidney stone pain usually hits the lower back and flank area first. Keep your hydration levels high, around 3-4 liters of water a day, and avoid heavy deadlifts or straining until the stone passes.

Low back pain is the classic symptom. Instead of buying random back pain sprays, get a basic ultrasound and urine test done first. It will cost you around 1000 rupees and will save you from spending money on wrong treatments.

Yes, I had to take a week off work because of this low back pain from a 6mm stone. Don't waste time trying to sit through it at your desk. See a doctor, get a painkiller prescribed, and get back to work once it passes.

My grandmother told me to drink coconut water daily for back pain caused by stones, and it really helped soothe the system. However, I still consulted my urologist and took the prescribed medicines to clear the stone safely. Please do the same.

Yes, the lower back bears the strain of kidney stones. Keep your mind calm, drink warm water, and pray. Your body has the strength to heal, just follow your doctor's advice.

While low back pain is a very common symptom of kidney stones, it can also be a muscle pull or spinal issue. It is always best to get it checked by a doctor to get an accurate diagnosis through an ultrasound.
