Can kidney stones cause groin pain?

I've been feeling a sharp pain in my groin area, and I also have kidney stones. Is this type of groin pain a common symptom that comes with kidney stones? It's quite bothersome and radiates downwards.

When I had a 6mm kidney stone, the pain started in my lower back but eventually traveled straight down to my groin area. It was incredibly uncomfortable, but once the stone moved closer to the bladder, that specific pain pattern made sense.

Drinking lots of warm water and barley water can help flush the stone, which might ease that groin discomfort. However, if the pain becomes sudden and severe, or if you see blood in your urine, please see a doctor immediately.

Do not be frightened, child. Groin pain is very common when the stone travels down the tube toward the bladder. I remember my husband went through the same thing years ago, and the doctor assured us it is a classic sign of the stone moving.

Beta, the pain traveling to the groin is quite common in this condition. You can try taking a warm bath or putting a warm compress on the area to soothe the muscles, but please do not ignore it and consult a doctor for proper diagnosis.

Yes, the path of the stone can cause pain to radiate down to the lower areas. Please stay positive, take deep breaths, and let your body heal through this difficult time. Take care of yourself.
