Can kidney stones cause foamy urine?

My husband has been having kidney stone issues for a while now. Recently, we noticed his urine is sometimes foamy. Is this a common symptom of kidney stones, or should we be looking into other causes?

Yes, kidney stones can sometimes cause irritation or a mild infection, which might make your urine look foamy or cloudy. However, foam can also mean there is protein in the urine, so it is best to get a simple routine urine test done to find the exact cause.

Hey, don't stress too much about it, but let's be safe. Foamy urine can happen if you are dehydrated or if the stone is irritating the bladder lining, but it can also point to kidney strain. Drink plenty of water today and book a quick doctor's appointment just to get it checked, okay?

Look, foam in urine shouldn't be ignored, especially if you already know you have kidney stones. It usually means your kidneys are under stress or there's some protein leaking. Go straight to a lab, get a urine routine test, and show it to a doctor.

When I noticed foamy urine with my kidney stone, my nephrologist explained that it can happen due to micro-albuminuria (protein leak) when the stone causes a temporary blockage or irritation. He ordered a 24-hour urine protein test to rule out kidney damage, so I highly recommend getting a doctor's opinion on this.

It can happen if the kidney is working harder due to the stone, or if you have a lot of protein in your diet. Make sure you are drinking enough water to dilute it. I would suggest avoiding heavy protein supplements for a few days and consulting your doctor for advice.
