Can kidney stones cause blood in stool?

My neighbor recently had a kidney stone removed, and she also mentioned seeing blood in her stool around that time. I'm wondering if kidney stones can somehow lead to blood in the stool, or if these are completely unrelated issues.

Actually, kidney stones themselves don't cause blood in your stool because the urinary and digestive tracts are completely different. However, if you are taking strong pain medicines for the stones, they can sometimes cause constipation or stomach irritation, which might lead to bleeding. Definitely mention this to your doctor.

Oh no, seeing blood in your stool is so scary, I would totally panic if that happened to me. Kidney stones don't directly cause this, but the severe pain might make you constipated, or it could be a separate issue altogether. Please don't stress, but do consult a doctor immediately to be safe.

No, kidney stones affect the urinary tract, not the bowel. If you are seeing blood in your stool, it might be due to severe constipation or fissures, sometimes triggered by a sudden lack of activity or pain meds. Try doing light walks if your doctor permits, and drink plenty of water.

Hello! While kidney stones can cause blood in your urine, they do not cause blood in your stool directly. Sometimes, heavy painkiller doses for stone pain can cause stomach ulcers or constipation, leading to this. Please get this evaluated by a doctor soon.

In our family, we usually think of body heat for such issues, but kidney stones and stool bleeding are not directly linked. It could be due to acidity or piles, or the medications you are taking for the stone. Please visit your doctor for a proper checkup.

Ah, the joy of getting older—one day it's kidney stones, the next day it's blood in stool. No, the stone itself shouldn't cause rectal bleeding. It's likely constipation from painkillers or maybe piles. Get it checked by a doctor so you can get the right relief.
