Can kidney disease cause weight gain in stomach?

My father has kidney problems, and recently his stomach has become quite bloated and he's gained weight only there. Is it possible that kidney disease can specifically cause weight gain around the stomach area?

I've been noticing my stomach looking really bloated and heavy lately, and I'm so scared it's fluid retention from my kidneys. Has anyone else here experienced sudden stomach swelling? I'm getting quite anxious about it.

Actually yaar, it can cause fluid to accumulate in the abdomen, which is called ascites. It makes your stomach look suddenly big and bloated. You should get an ultrasound done to be sure instead of just guessing.

Yes, when kidneys struggle, water accumulates in the abdominal region. I always recommend gentle deep breathing and mild stretches to keep the body calm, but you must consult your doctor to manage this fluid build-up safely.

Yes, fluid buildup in the abdomen is common in advanced stages. Please check with your doctor to see if you need diuretics.

If you are tracking your weight and see a sudden spike of 2-3 kgs in a few days along with abdominal bloating, it's likely water retention (ascites). Log your fluid intake and consult a doctor to check your kidney filtration rate.

Please get this checked by a professional immediately. Abdominal fluid buildup can cause a lot of pressure on your internal organs and make breathing difficult. It is a serious complication that requires proper medical evaluation.

In my father's case, his stomach started looking very distended and tight due to fluid retention from his renal issues. His doctor adjusted his medication and put him on a strict low-sodium diet, which helped reduce the abdominal swelling.
