Can kidney disease cause blood in urine?

My sister has kidney disease, and yesterday she noticed blood in her urine, which really scared us. Is this a common symptom or something very serious to worry about with kidney problems?

Yes, it definitely can. I had hematuria due to a kidney infection and stones a couple of years ago. My tip is to not panic but immediately collect a urine sample for a routine test and culture, and show it to a urologist/nephrologist right away. Don't wait.

Seeing blood in your urine is a serious symptom that needs direct medical attention. At our hospital, the doctors run a quick ultrasound and urine test to find the exact reason. Please don't try any home remedies; ask your doctor clearly for a proper diagnosis.

Beta, don't get frightened. In my lifetime, I have seen that blood in urine can happen due to simple kidney infections or stones, which are highly treatable. Just stay calm, drink normal amounts of water, and visit your family doctor today itself.

Yes, kidney damage from long-term high blood sugar can sometimes cause this, or it could be an infection. As a diabetic, I am very careful about my kidney health. You need to get your urine microalbumin and sugar levels checked along with a doctor's consultation immediately.
