Can kidney disease cause bad breath?

My mother has advanced kidney disease, and lately, she's been having really bad breath despite good oral hygiene. We are curious if her kidney issues could be the reason for this.

Haan, kidney problem me ammonia jaisi badboo aane lagti hai saans se. Pehle aap saste wale basic blood and urine tests karwa lo, jaise KFT aur routine urine exam, jisme 500-800 rupaye hi lagenge. Faltu me bade hospital ke packages me paise waste mat karna abhi.

Yes, my uncle had this issue, and at the hospital, they explained it's due to urea build-up. I highly recommend going to a proper multi-specialty hospital and asking your nephrologist clearly about this symptom. They can run the right tests to confirm if it's related.

Mera experience bilkul accha nahi raha hai isme, thodi laparwahi se meri tabiyat bahut bigad gayi thi. Agar saans me ajeeb si badboo aa rahi hai toh halka mat samjho. Seedhe acche doctor ko dikhao taaki koi complication na ho.

I have PCOS and know how weird hormonal/metabolic issues can get with bodily changes. I read somewhere that when kidneys don't clear waste, it can cause a metallic taste and bad breath. I'm not 100% sure if that is always the case, so please check with a professional to be absolutely safe.

Yes, it can happen when waste builds up in the blood. My grandmother used to say to drink warm water with a bit of lemon to clean the mouth, but she also insisted on consulting the doctor first. Please schedule an appointment with your physician soon for a proper checkup.

Haha, yes! It's called 'uremic fetor'—makes your breath smell like urine or fish, which is definitely not great for your dating life! Don't worry too much, just keep chewing some sugar-free mints while you wait for your doctor's appointment to sort it out.

Please don't ignore this. I made the mistake of ignoring minor symptoms like weird breath and fatigue, thinking it was just low water intake, and ended up with severe complications. Get a proper kidney function test done immediately before things get worse.

For normal bad breath, chewing fennel seeds (saunf) or rinsing with lukewarm salt water works wonders. But if this bad breath is linked to actual kidney issues, home remedies won't cure the root cause. You must see a doctor to get your kidney health evaluated properly.
