Can kidney cysts be removed?

My doctor told me about a few cysts on my kidney after a recent scan. I'm wondering if they always need to be removed, or if kidney cysts can be managed without surgery.

In my case, I have a small 3 cm cyst on my right kidney, but the doctor said we don't need to touch it at all. We just monitor it once a year with an ultrasound. I'm just sharing my experience, your doctor will know what's best for you.

Yeah, they can be removed if they grow too big or start causing pain. My uncle had a really large one that was bothering him, and they did a quick laparoscopic surgery to drain it. He was back on his feet in no time.

Before you think about removal, check if your insurance covers laparoscopic procedures or if you need to plan your budget. Sometimes, doctors just suggest keeping an eye on it, which saves you unnecessary hospital expenses. Get a clear quote from a couple of hospitals first.

Yes, they can be removed surgically or drained if they are causing severe pain or blockages. Please consult a specialist to see if your cyst actually requires any treatment.

If a cyst needs removal because of size or discomfort, it's usually a short procedure. Laparoscopic aspiration or keyhole surgery doesn't require a long hospital stay. Get a direct consultation with a urologist over the weekend to plan it out without disrupting work.

I was researching this because my cousin has a cyst. Apparently, they only remove them if they are 'complex' or causing issues like high blood pressure or infection. For simple, silent ones, they just leave them alone. Good to know!
