Can jaw clenching cause tooth pain?

Often, I catch myself clenching my jaw, especially when I'm stressed or sleeping. Lately, some of my teeth have started to ache quite a bit, making it uncomfortable to chew. Could my habit of jaw clenching be the reason for this tooth pain?

Yes, jaw clenching puts extreme pressure on your teeth and causes deep pain. Instead of going for expensive root canals directly, get a simple custom-made night guard from a local dentist. It costs around 1000-1500 rupees but saves you from huge dental bills later.

Of course it does. Constant clenching, especially at night due to stress, damages your tooth enamel and makes them ache. Go get a dental guard made and stop stressing so much, that's the main culprit.

Don't worry too much, this is actually very common when we are highly stressed. Clenching stresses the jaw muscles which directly makes the teeth feel sore and sensitive. Try doing some warm compresses on your cheeks before sleeping and see a dentist if it continues.

Do not start using random chewing exercises or home tricks found online for jaw pain. Clenching can lead to cracks in your teeth or severe TMJ issues. Go to a qualified dentist and let them examine your bite properly.

Clenching can cause permanent damage to your gums and tooth structure over time. It is always safer to get it evaluated by a dental surgeon immediately. Don't wait for the pain to become severe before taking action.

My son used to wake up complaining of severe toothaches because of clenching his teeth during exam stress. We got him a soft night guard from the dentist and it really solved the problem. Make sure your child rests well and avoids sleeping on their stomach.

Totally agree, clenching causes intense pressure on the teeth and makes them ache. Using a hot gel pack on your jaw area before bed helps relax those tight muscles.

I had terrible tooth sensitivity for months until my dentist realized I clench my teeth in sleep. Wearing a mouthguard at night completely cured my tooth pain. Also, try doing basic jaw relaxation stretches during the day.
