Can interstitial cystitis cause back pain?

Dealing with interstitial cystitis has been a struggle for a while now. Lately, I've also been getting really bad lower back pain. Could this be related to my IC, or is it something else entirely?

From what I have seen in chronic pain support groups, pelvic floor issues can definitely radiate pain to the lower back. Since I deal with PCOS, I know how confusing lower belly and back pains can be. It is always better to speak to a specialist to understand the exact root cause of your pain.

At this age, even breathing too hard seems to cause back pain! But joking aside, bladder inflammation from IC can absolutely make your lower back ache like crazy. Don't just sit and apply balm all day; get a doctor to look at it before your back decides to permanently retire.

When my sister had bladder issues, we visited a top urologist at Apollo to get a clear picture. The doctor explained that pelvic pain and lower back pain are closely linked due to the nerve pathways. I highly recommend going to a reputed hospital and asking your doctor to explain the connection clearly.

I completely panicked when my lower back started aching along with bladder pressure, thinking it was a kidney failure or something serious. But after getting tested, the doctor reassured me it's just referred pain from the bladder muscle spasms. It's actually quite common, so try not to worry too much.

I haven't slept properly in days because of my own bladder issues, and yes, my back feels like a truck ran over it. When your bladder is constantly irritated, all those lower muscles just tense up. Buy a heating pad and pray for some sleep, it really helps with the spasms.

I can't say if this is medically proven, but in my own journey with IC, lower back stiffness has been a constant companion. Especially during a flare-up, the pain stretches from my bladder straight to my back. Doing very gentle pelvic stretching has given me some personal relief.

Please don't ignore this combination of symptoms. I delayed checking my pelvic pain, and it led to severe spasms and a lot of suffering later on. Back pain can sometimes indicate that the inflammation is worsening or spreading to the kidneys, so please see a specialist immediately.
