Can ibuprofen give you a heart attack?

My brother told me that regular painkillers are not good for the heart. I take ibuprofen sometimes for my arthritis pain. Is it true that ibuprofen can potentially cause a heart attack?

Occasional use of ibuprofen is generally safe. However, taking it in high doses over a long period can slightly increase the risk of heart attacks.

Unless you are taking very high doses daily for months, the risk is minimal. If you have pre-existing heart issues, avoid self-medicating with NSAIDs and consult your cardiologist for safe pain relief alternatives.

I'm always extra careful with medications because of my PCOS and potential side effects. There is some research linking long-term NSAID use to heart risks, so it's always best to ask your doctor before taking them regularly.

I totally get it, reading these warnings online can be so terrifying and stressful. Just remember that taking it once in a while for a headache is very safe. The risk is only for long-term abuse, so don't worry.

Don't worry, one little pill for a bad toothache isn't going to make your heart stop! Just don't eat them like they are sweet mints and you will be absolutely fine. Keep calm!
