Can i wear a tampon to sleep?

My periods are usually quite heavy, and sometimes I worry about leaks at night. My friend uses tampons and suggested I try one to sleep. Is it generally okay to wear a tampon overnight, or should it be removed before sleeping?

Don't listen to random social media advice saying it's 100% fine. Leaving a tampon in for over 8 hours increases the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome. If you sleep longer than that, just verify with a gynecologist or stick to sanitary pads for the night.

Keep your mind peaceful, beta. You can wear a tampon to sleep, but make sure you change it right before bed and immediately after waking up. Do not let it stay for more than 8 hours to keep your body pure and healthy. Take care.

I totally get it, pads can feel so uncomfortable and messy during the night. You can definitely wear a tampon to sleep, just make sure to put a fresh one in right before you hit the bed and set an alarm so it's not in for too long.

My elders always advised against using tampons at night, but my doctor cleared it up. She said it is perfectly fine as long as you don't sleep for more than 8 hours. If you tend to sleep late, then standard pads are much safer.

It is fine for up to 8 hours, but personally I prefer organic cotton pads or menstrual cups for the night to avoid any infection risks. If you ever experience high fever or sudden rashes after using one, please see a doctor immediately.
