Can i use a piles supository prior to colonoscopy?

My doctor has scheduled me for a colonoscopy next week and I've been having some trouble with piles recently. I use a supository for relief. Just wanted to confirm if it's fine to use it a day or two before the procedure, or if it will interfere?

It is best to keep the system completely clear and natural before such procedures. Introducing any medication or suppository might interfere with the doctor's view or irritate the passage. Try practicing deep breathing to calm your mind, and check with your clinic before using anything.

I agree with everyone else. Please don't use it because it can coat the lining of your colon and interfere with the test results.

Managing health issues like high BP and bowel troubles has taught me that we shouldn't self-medicate before major tests. If you are having piles pain, mention it to the doctor doing the colonoscopy. They might need to adjust their procedure or give you a safe alternative.

I totally get it, dealing with piles pain while preparing for a colonoscopy must be incredibly uncomfortable and stressful. However, using anything inside the rectum might mess up the prep. Please tell your doctor about the pain so they can guide you safely.

I have struggled with piles for years and know how painful it gets during the bowel prep for a colonoscopy. Instead of using a suppository which might ruin the test, try sitting in a tub of warm water (a sitz bath) for 10 minutes to soothe the area. It is very safe and won't affect your procedure.

I strongly advise against using any suppository right before a colonoscopy. Suppositories leave a greasy residue or foam inside the rectum, which can block the doctor's view during the scan. Give your doctor's office a quick call to see what safe creams you can use instead.

When I had my colonoscopy at Manipal Hospital, they gave me very strict instructions about what I could put in my body the day before. Any suppository can leave residue that makes it hard for the camera to see clearly. You must call your doctor's office directly to confirm if it's allowed.
