Can i take melatonin if i have kidney disease?

I've had trouble sleeping lately, and was thinking of trying melatonin. However, I also have kidney disease, which worries me about any new medication. Can I safely take melatonin if I have kidney disease?

I was having terrible sleep issues during my kidney treatment last year and asked my nephrologist about melatonin. He told me it is generally okay but insisted on monitoring the dosage closely. Definitely get your doctor's approval first.

In my years of dealing with chronic health issues, I have learned that any new pill can load the kidneys. Melatonin might be fine, but at our stage, we must never take even a mild supplement without asking our specialist first. Stay safe, beta.

My brother has kidney issues and our family elders suggested various herbal teas for his insomnia, but we chose to trust his nephrologist. The doctor advised caution with melatonin because of how it is processed. Please consult your physician first.

Living with kidney disease and struggling to sleep is emotionally and physically exhausting, I completely understand your pain. Melatonin might seem like an easy fix, but please protect your kidneys and let your doctor decide the safest route for you.

My research shows that while melatonin is metabolized by the liver, some studies suggest caution with dosage in patients with renal impairment. My doctor mentioned that sleep cycles can be managed naturally first before starting hormonal supplements. Please get a professional opinion.
