Can i take magnesium with stage 3 kidney disease?

My doctor recently diagnosed me with Stage 3 kidney disease. I used to take magnesium supplements for muscle cramps. Is it safe for me to continue taking magnesium with this condition?

At this age, my kidneys are already doing extra shifts, so I wouldn't dare load them with extra magnesium without a doctor's permission! With stage 3, your body might struggle to filter out excess magnesium. Better to ask your nephrologist first.

My uncle has stage 3 kidney disease, and his doctor strictly told him to avoid over-the-counter magnesium supplements. High magnesium levels can be really dangerous when kidneys aren't filtering properly. Definitely check with your specialist.

My doctor explained that in stage 3 kidney disease, the kidneys' ability to excrete magnesium is reduced, which can lead to hypermagnesemia. Because of this risk, they advised against any magnesium supplements unless specifically monitored. Please get a blood test done and consult your nephrologist.

For kidney health, it is always best to stick to a simple, doctor-approved diet rather than taking heavy English supplements like magnesium. If you are experiencing any symptoms like muscle cramps, please consult your doctor immediately instead of self-treating.

My father was recently diagnosed with stage 3 kidney issues and his legs cramp a lot, so we were thinking about magnesium. But I am too scared of worsening his kidney function. Has anyone else's doctor allowed magnesium at this stage?
